Awareness - Cyber Impersonation Scam
We have been made aware of multiple instances in the last few weeks of customer’s receiving emails from the Google Mail account leeclimiteduk @gmail.com with a message claiming to be from our Managing Director. I can confirm that this email address is not managed by LEEC Limited, and is a fraudulent action to impersonate the company in an attempt to extort the recipients.
If you receive an email from the email address above or any other Gmail account, claiming to be from LEEC Limited, please do not action any of the requests within it, nor open any attachments or click any links. Please block the sender and report it to sales@leec.co.uk so that we can investigate it further. If you ever have a concern that an electronic request is suspicious, please contact your usual LEEC representative for confirmation.
Furthermore, we presently have no intention of changing bank details, and any instruction to do so should be treated as suspicious. Please always confirm any bank detail changes with your usual representative, by telephone, to avoid falling victim to any malicious attempts by cyber criminals.
LEEC Limited take the security of it’s data, and customer data, very seriously, and every practical effort, is made to secure data from malicious use.
The company has reported these fraudulent emails both to Action Fraud UK and Gmail through their abuse reporting centre. Unfortunately these actions alone, cannot stop malicious actions by cyber criminals and therefore we would ask you to remain vigilant and advise your staff of the same.
If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact your usual LEEC representative for further support.
